COVID-19 STATEMENT

March 16, 2020

The situation with the COVID-19, coronavirus, has rapidly evolved over the last several days, and Friday’s directive from the Government of Saskatchewan to cancel events larger than 250 people was a pivotal action. As a result, we have made the decision to cancel CAGP’s 27th National Conference on Strategic Philanthropy, scheduled to take place in Regina, April 22nd – 24th.

Thank you for your patience as we worked through our response to this unprecedented situation. Our primary considerations have been the health and safety of our delegates, as well as our responsibility to show leadership in limiting the spread of the virus. At the same time, the CAGP board and staff leadership have a financial stewardship responsibility to our members to mitigate the impact on the organization to the best of our ability. We have been taking stock of the impacts of cancellation while we awaited official direction from the Saskatchewan Government that would support certain provisions to minimize the financial impact.

We are disappointed that we are unable to offer this outstanding education and networking experience. We look forward to the conference every year, and we know many of you do as well. We will continue to work with the CAGP Foundation to offer education and training this year that will meet your needs and advance your causes and interests.

We also recognize that the Annual General Meeting is a highly-valued aspect of being a member of CAGP. While we can’t replicate the full experience, we will be in touch as to when and how that event will take place.

For those already registered for the Conference, we would like to offer you the following options:

  • Cancel your registration for a full refund
  • Transfer your registration #CAGP21
  • Convert all or part of your registration fee to a contribution in support of CAGP

If you are contemplating cancelling your registration, we invite you to consider the third option, that of converting all or part of your registration fee to a contribution in support of CAGP. We want to continue to provide the leadership that is needed. We want to continue to provide resources to our members, to charities and the professional advisors who enable donors to plan their philanthropy. Providing education and raising public awareness around strategic charitable giving is more important than ever in times like this.

Please reach out to Erin Kuhns, Manager, Education & Training at ekuhns@cagp-acpdp.org to process your transfer, cancellation, or donation.

Organizing CAGP’s National Conference is a team effort. We would like to take this opportunity to offer our sincere thanks to the many speakers, presenters, volunteers and, of course, our partners, sponsors and exhibitors for their contributions towards creating a successful event. We are also pleased to announce that next year’s National Conference will take place from April 14-16, 2021 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. We look forward to seeing you there!

Last, but not least, please take care of yourself and your family. The work you do in our sector is important, now more than ever.

Regards,

Ruth MacKenzie
