Candice Tsang Vice president, Leadership Giving, VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation

Candice has 30 years of experience raising major gifts and working with donors and volunteers.

She started her fundraising career with S.U.C.C.E.S.S. in 1990, where she learned the landscape of philanthropy in Vancouver and gained a lot of experience working with Chinese-Canadian philanthropists. She then joined BC Children’s Hospital Foundation (BCCHF) in 1994 as Multicultural Manager, progressing to Philanthropy Director, and specializing in Chinese-Canadian fundraising. During her 20-year tenure at BCCHF, she championed two capital campaigns and established Asian Programs for both annual and major gifts. She founded the For Children We Care gala, managed a fundraising cabinet in Hong Kong, and established a Chinese-Canadian Planned Giving Committee.

Candice joined VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation as Vice President, Major Gifts & Gift and Estate Planning in 2014, and has built an active and flourishing Asian Program, including the annual Time to Shine gala which, in its inaugural year in 2015 was recognized as the “Best New Gala” by Vancouver’s Fred Lee.  She and her colleague, Charlene Taylor, also created a Chinese Planned Giving Seminar for Asian donors to learn more about planned giving strategies.  Candice is currently in the role of Vice President, Leadership Giving, focusing on working with major donors to create transformational impacts for specialized adult health care in BC and beyond.

Prior to moving to Canada, Candice was a public broadcaster and public relations professional in Hong Kong.
