Empowerment Dialogue One-Day Laboratory

This one-day workshop will teach you how to use the powerful Empowerment Dialogue approach to solicit planned and major gifts from donors. Participants are expected to fully participate in a day of learning the actual language of successful fundraising solicitation, and must be willing to publicly role play dialogues being a fundraiser and a donor. The Laboratory approach will involve trying, testing, experimenting, practicing, and discovering in a unique way to learn this approach to soliciting gifts.

You will learn:

  • The actual language to use with donors to successfully solicit gifts
  • How to implement the Empowerment Dialogue approach with your own donors
  • How to ask a donor for a planned or major gift immediately

Fundraisers, gift planners, board members, and anyone else with an interest in learning how to ask donors for a major or planned gift are encouraged to attend.

Ken Ramsay, one of the most experienced planned giving professionals in North America, launched Empowerment Dialogue in 2014. As President and CEO of Legacy Leaders Inc. from 1996 to 2014, Ken built that company to be the pre-eminent planned giving consulting company in North America raising over $2 billion in gift expectancies. He was the founding Chair of the Canadian Association of Gift Planners and co-founded with Frank Minton, the course on Planned Giving at the Banff School for Management.

Ken is a frequent speaker, trainer, mentor and coach and has spoken and taught frequently at AFP, NCPG (PPP), AHP, CASE, CCAE and CAGP events throughout North America. He is currently a professor in the esteemed fundraising management course at Humber College and is a member of the PGgrowth national consulting team.

Ken has recently written the book Empowerment Dialogue – A New Approach to Fundraising and created the popular Gerald Bear Fundraiser comic strip.
