Debunking the Myths

Shedding Light on Donor Advised Funds

  TWO part webinar.

Part One - May 21st 2020

Part Two - June 4th, 2020

The Charitable Sector is seeing more and more options when it comes to how donors give to their favourite organizations. Perhaps the most influential (and controversial) change is the rise of Donor Advised Funds (DAFs) in Canada. Donors using DAFs find an ease to strategic charitable giving, while still allowing them to maximize tax deductions. Yet while use of DAFs may be increasing quickly, there is also a lot of apprehension from the Canadian charitable sector as we seek to understand the long term impact of Donor Advised Funds.

PART ONE - May 21st 2020- Will Be A DAF 101 & Myth Buster:

  • An overview of the Donor Advised Fund Landscape In Canada.
  • A breakdown of the most common Myths and Trends with Donor Advised Funds from industry leaders.

PART TWO - June 4th 2020 - "Interactive Panel Discussion and Q&A:

Interactive Panel Discussion discussing:

  1. How charities can proactively work with Donor Advised Funds and advisors to strengthen the donor relationship.
  2. How advisors look to the vehicle of Donor Advised Funds and incorporate them into their Wealth Planning advice.
  3. How Donor Advised Funds have provided a new opportunity for organizations to engage with the next generation of donors.

This presentation will be facilitated by Karen Hudson and Serena Hak.
