Demystifying Legacy Giving: Tools, tips and tricks to inspire legacy giving conversations

Presented by: Jayne Whitfield, Senior Manager, Legacy Giving, University of Guelph and Jen Love, Partner, Agents of Good

Have you ever felt hesitant to introduce legacy giving into your conversations with donors and alumni, concerned it might lead to uncomfortable topics like death and taxes? In this session, we’ll dispel those fears and equip you with the confidence to engage in some of the most meaningful conversations of your career. You’ll leave energized, empowered, and with a deeper understanding of who legacy donors are and how you and your colleagues can connect with them. We’ll share insights, case studies and other tools, tips and tricks to help you elevate your legacy stories and conversations from where you are right now.

Together, we will:

• Explore the profile of legacy donors and share insights into effective communication strategies.
• Help you understand the emotional and psychological drivers that influence people to leave a lasting legacy.
• Learn practical tips for implementing a successful legacy giving program, applicable to organizations of all sizes.

Lead with Clarity, Mentor with Intention

Presented by Dr. Mathieu Yuill, Principal Consultant, Leading with Nice Mentorship isn’t just a program — it’s a posture.

In this session, I’ll explore how mentorship becomes most powerful when it's woven into everyday leadership, not just formal pairings. Drawing on my doctoral research in leadership and communication, I’ll share practical insights on how clarity, curiosity, and aligned values create environments where others naturally grow.

Attendees will leave with:

• A simple framework for nurturing mentorship in their teams — whether or not they’re part of a formal program.
• Practical tools for communicating expectations and support with clarity.
• A renewed understanding of their role as someone who shapes the culture around them.

Attendees will also receive 2.0 CFRE Education points for participating.
