The South Saskatchewan Community Foundation is proud to present the 2025 CAGP Luncheon – Legacy Matters: The Impact of Wills in Charitable Gift Planning!

We hope you can join us on Wednesday, May 28 for a celebration of philanthropy and planned giving at our 2025 Legacy Luncheon. The topic is Why Should I Update My Will?Our panel, Grant Karst, Caira McIlwaine, and Crystal Schmalle, will discuss the importance of creating and updating your Will. You will also have an opportunity to connect with colleagues and associates from across the section.

May 28, 11:30 am – 1:30 pm

Lunch will be provided and parking is available for free in the hotel lot or on Albert Street.

Ciara McIlwaine, TEP, Two Rivers Legal Professional Corporation

Ciara McIlwaine is a lawyer and a co-founder of Two Rivers Legal Professional Corporation. Her practice areas include business law, non-profit governance, and real property law, including real estate conveyancing. But her passion is advising clients about estate planning and estate administration. As a Trust and Estate Practitioner and a Certified Executor Advisor, Ciara has the knowledge and expertise to assist her clients in preparing their estate planning or managing an estate.

Grant Karst, Financial Planner, Blue Sky Financial Planning Ltd

Grant has been a financial planner for 45 years. He sold his business in 2020 and now works for the new owners focusing on insurance strategies, estate planning and philanthropy. This focus, along with his belief in the work of the Community Foundation, prompted him to volunteer on the board. As a business owner, Grant supported the Regina United Way literacy program by providing libraries in elementary school classrooms. He volunteered on the Regina Symphony Orchestra board for two terms and started his family foundation at the Community Foundation which he hopes will encourage philanthropy for his children and grandchildren.

Crystal Schmalle, CFRE, Manager, Legacy Programs, Hospitals of Regina Foundation

Crystal has been in the nonprofit industry for 12 years, specializing in legacy giving for nearly seven years with Hospitals of Regina Foundation. She proudly holds her CFRE and holds the position of Education Chair for the Canadian Association of Gift Planners for the Saskatchewan South Chapter. Crystal inspiration to make a difference for future generations comes her family and friends. When she isn’t talking about legacy, she enjoys her two fur babies, yoga and of course, watching the Saskatchewan Roughriders play football.
