Gift Planning Vehicles 101

Presenters: Jordan Arndt & Steven Guenther

Event details:
Gift planning can sometimes feel more complicated than it needs to be. This practical session will provide an accessible introduction to the key gift planning vehicles available to Canadian donors, with a focus on how they work in real-world conversations.

We’ll explore common strategies including gifts of securities, donor-advised funds, bequests, life insurance, and other planned giving vehicles. Rather than getting lost in the technical details, we’ll focus on the practical questions: What is the strategy? When might it make sense? What are the key considerations? And how do you introduce it to a donor?

Through examples and practical discussion, participants will gain a better understanding of how different gift planning vehicles can fit into a donor’s financial, tax and philanthropic circumstances, and how fundraisers, charities and professional advisors can work together to facilitate these gifts.
