Engaging the Next Generation in Strategic Philanthropy
Presenter: Aneil Gokhale, Toronto Foundation

Join Aneil Gokhale, Director of Philanthropy, to learn about the Toronto Foundation’s vision and programming for a young and diverse group of donors who are willing to establish funds, engage in impact investing and be part of the next generation of philanthropy in their city. In 2018, Toronto Foundation launched a “philanthropic MBA program” primarily for a group of millennial and gen x donors, recruiting 115 to join the first cohort and two years later, another 90 to join the next version of the program. Through their learning journey, these Fundholders are inspiring philanthropy and living out Toronto Foundation’s vision of “a City of informed, engaged philanthropists accelerating meaningful change for all.” Come and learn about creative and innovative ways to show donors the true meaning of legacy with impact, including a look at one of the Foundation’s newest programs, the Deacon Legacy Grants.

Learning Objectives:

1. Identify the opportunity within your local community (size will vary, and that is ok!)
2. Understand the specifics of how the Toronto program was constructed, what was learned and critical success factors needed to make it a success
3. Hear from program participants that will share their first-hand experience of the opportunity and what they learned from it
