This presentation will examine how the introduction of the graduated rate estate has impacted estate administration and planning for charitable giving. Are we seeing certain trends or challenges? What can we do to mitigate uncertainty? What value can the fundraiser add for the donor in the planning process?

 

Wendy Seet  is a principal in Manning Elliott’s Tax Group, with a focus on corporate reorganizations, estate planning and business succession for Canadian owner-managed businesses. Wendy also assists clients with business acquisitions and divestitures, and has a special interest in tax matters relating to charities and disabilities.

Wendy articled for a national accounting firm in Edmonton, Alberta, attaining her Chartered Accountant designation in 2000. A tax practitioner for over 10 years, Wendy has completed all three levels of the Chartered Accountants of Canada In-Depth Income Tax.

Course, as well as other advanced-level tax courses.

Laura Peach, Lawyer, Legacy Tax + Trust Lawyers, Vancouver, BC. Laura assists clients with personal and corporate tax planning, including business succession, corporate reorganizations, estate planning and trust matters. Laura routinely advises taxpayers on tax issues related to residential real estate, including property transfer tax, speculation and vacancy tax and Vancouver’s empty homes tax.  Laura also assists taxpayers with resolving complex tax problems, including disputes with revenue authorities and tax issues arising in estate administration, in civil litigation and upon relationship breakdown.
