"The first time I heard the term ‘Blended Gift’ was at the height of the recession. Hailed as the saving grace of stalled and failing campaigns for US colleges at the time, the gift plan is a strategic blend of a planned gift, major gift and maybe an annual gift. The idea of integrating a planned gift with at least one of those two gift types can be an enabler for the donor and charity alike. Gift planners are taught in their basic training to keep their antenna up when it comes to bringing a deferred gift forward but the same may not be true for our colleagues who have current gift objectives. My presentation will discuss the pros and cons of blended gifts, case studies, and touch on changes to counting polices that make them more workable. Bring your colleagues and bosses." Doug Puffer, Director Personal and Planned Giving at Carleton University
