THE SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC IMPACT OF THE CHARITABLE SECTOR

The 2030 UN Sustainable Development Gaols represent a revoluntionary global consensus that nations have in achieving development. Civil Society plans an important role in achieving these goals. Crystal will share the findings of a recent partnership project between the Victoria Foundation and the University of Victoria, which examines the social impact and economic activity of civil society in the CRD in the 2016 fiscal year. The results reveal the sector's vital contribution to the economic development and prosperity of the region -- with over $4 Billion in economic activity. This study is the first of it's kind that provides a comprehensive illustration of the economic activity and social impact of the philanthropic sector here in our region. The socia limpact illustrated in this study is a snapshot of the various ways charitable organizations serve the public good -- and contribute to a collective global agenda for sustainable development.
