Learn about Planned Giving and prepare for a successful Leave a Legacy event.

CAGP is again proud to host the free Leave A Legacy Calgary™ event on May 9th for the public on behalf of our charity partners. On February 21, we are offering a FREE workshop for fund development professionals and Board members on how you can take full advantage of this very popular public-facing event.

As a busy development professional or Board member tasked with marketing a full menu of giving options, you know you ‘should’ be engaging more planned giving prospects, but where do you start? Simply, start here. Join us February 21 to kick-start your opportunity to take a tangible step forward with your planned giving program, and have much of the heavy lifting done for you.

The May Leave a Legacy event is a ‘Wills Workshop’ for generous Calgarians interested in estate planning and, specifically, leaving a charitable bequest in their will. This popular event traditionally attracts 300 prospective planned giving donors. You will have the opportunity to invite friends of your charity to be inspired by a donor speaking about the ‘why’ of estate giving, and be informed by a lawyer and accountant clarifying the ‘how’ of estate giving. If you choose to sponsor the event, prospects will also be able to visit your booth and learn more about how they can align with your mission through an estate gift. The event is at the Calgary Zoo the evening of Thursday, May 9.

The professional development workshop on February 21 will take the stress out of preparing to maximize the value of your participation. You will be provided a handbook including a marketing plan template, a sample invitation, and a follow-up plan, as well as hints on focusing your communications for planned gifts. By attending the workshop, you will be better prepared to have the legacy giving conversation, in a way that is well-received by your prospective donors.
