Special Federal Tax Assistance For Charitable Donations Of Publicly Traded Securities

Report On The Department Of Finance Web Site

This report summarizes the results of the measure that provides special income tax assistance for donations of publicly traded securities to public charities. Under this measure, which was introduced on a temporary basis in 1997, individuals and corporations donating publicly traded securities to public charities include in income for tax purposes only one-half the amount of capital gains realized on the donation that they would include for other capital gains. This measure was to be continued only if it was found effective in both increasing donations and distributing the additional donations fairly among charities. The measure was made permanent in 2001. This report is based on donations of publicly traded securities claimed on income tax returns during the first four years of the measure, that is, 1997 to 2000.

Symposium
Postponed

Dear {Delegates}:

The Board of Director of CAGP-ACPDP™ regrets to inform you that, at a special meeting held today, they made the decision to postpone the Symposium due to take place in Ottawa from October 2-4th . Information about rescheduling will be available by September but it is expected that late September or early October 2003 will be the selected time.

The factors impacting upon this decision are varied however the key factors were that, in the Boards opinion, it would be impossible to provide the program as outlined in previous correspondence, nor would the resulting Symposium meet the expectations of the delegates or the quality that CAGP-ACPDP™ has become associated with.

The Board regrets having to take this action and deeply regrets any inconvenience that you, as valuable members of CAGP-ACPDP™, may be put to because of this decision. Your fee reimbursement is being processed now and will be returned to you as soon as possible.

Thank you for your continuing support of CAGP-ACPDP™.

Any form of the CFRE Exam (Australian, Canadian, or US) can be taken at ANY location. (i.e., you can travel to Canada to take the US exam and vice versa)

A CRUCIAL CROSSROAD

The life of an organization like CAGP*ACPDP® is similar to any other forms of life. There is birth, the first steps, the development of the mind, the teen age, and the growing crisis leading to adulthood. Well, looking back from where we came from and when, and where we are at now, it seems that CAGP*ACPDP® became a young adult quite rapidly.

CAGP*ACPDP® SIGNS MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH CFRE.
On December 1, 2001 CAGP*ACPDP® signed a memorandum of understanding with CFRE Professional Certification Board to become a participating organization.

CFRE Exam in Seattle

A CFRE Exam has been added for May 4, 2002 in Seattle, WA. Applications are due postmarked March 4, 2002. This is a great event to add to your chapter or region's calendar!
