General information:
Educational Sessions are generally held at noon every 2 months from September to June at the Union Club, 805 Gordon St., Victoria
(Begbie Room)
Next Educational Session:
Date: Thursday, February 2, 2012, 12:00 – 1:30 pm
Topic: Social Media; the Planned Giving Groundswell
Speaker: Leah Baade, Copywriting and Social Media Services
Groundswell is a relatively new social trend in which people use technology to get what they need from each other; it often diminishes the need for them to work with traditional institutions. This is particularly relevant to planned giving because social media and online giving are changing the way we need to think about building relationships with donors. Even if a large percentage of our demographic isn't likely to give online, there's a need to look forward to the future and establish online authority, credibility and relationships.
Cost: CAGP Members: $20.00; Non-Members: $35.00
Previous Educational Session:
Joint meeting with Victoria Estate Planning Council
Date: Tuesday, November 8, 2011, 1 – 4:30 pm
Topic: Fine Art & Other Collectibles from an Estate Planning Perspective
Speaker: Hugh Bulmer, CPPA, Vice President, Maynards Fine Art & Antiques
“Drawing on 30 years of experience in Europe and Canada, Hugh will discuss issues charities should consider when accepting gifts of fine art and other valuable collectibles. Using real-life examples he describes as “tales of the unexpected”, Hugh will discuss problems in valuing and distributing these assets from an estate which have resulted in family disharmony, legal action by beneficiaries and charities, and excessive expenditure by executors”.
Location: : Union Club, 805 Gordon Street, Victoria
