During the CAGP-ACPDP™ Annual Conference Banquet on April 24th 2008, it was with great pleasure that the CAGP-ACPDP™ Board of Directors honoured the recipients of the
2008 Friend of CAGP-ACPDP™ Award
Robert Bédard and
Christopher JK Richardson
Robert Bédard
All throughout his career, Robert has given back to his community through his volunteering. More poignantly, Robert has dedicated almost 10 years of his retirement to furthering gift planning in the province of Quebec, most notably with his work for Centraide Québec et Chaudières-Appalaches. There he was able to develop the planned giving department they so desperately needed. This was done on top of his numerous other volunteer engagements with various charitable and community-based organizations including Héma-Québec and the Quebec Association for Cystic Fibrosis.
A member of CAGP-ACPDP™ since 1999, Robert has chaired the Quebec City RoundTable and was also responsible for member recruitment. He is currently serves as a member-at-large for the Quebec City RoundTable.
Christopher JK Richardson
Over the years, Christopher has been involved as a presenter at most conference; a strong presence at the
Greater Vancouver RoundTable; and active both as a member of the National Board of Directors and Board Committee member. He was an integral part of the founding National Board of Canadian Association of Gift Planners, presenting with distinction, the West Coast constituency. At that time, the Board’s meetings were all held in Toronto and Christopher attended almost every one of them at his own expense. His dedication was an inspiration to all on the Board of Directors.
Christopher has taken a leading role in staging the Annual National Conference when it has been held in Vancouver and has chaired the very demanding Accreditation Committee. Always ready to help, always knowledgeable on the industry, always available to give sage advice and always spotlighting gift planning within his profession, accounting. His personal support of a worthy cause was par none. Christopher JK Richardson has been and will continue to be a leader in gift planning in Canada.

A “Friend of ~ Ami(e) de CAGP-ACPDP™” must have:
• practiced or operated in an exemplary and ethical manner;
• exemplified vision, talent and dedication to CAGP-ACPDP™ and society;
• made a significant contribution to CAGP-ACPDP™ or to gift planning in Canada.
A call for nominations is put out each year and this year there were six nominations. A “Friend of ~ Ami(e) de CAGP-ACPDP™” is identified by a committee of the Board of Directors of CAGP-ACPDP™, approved by the Board and is recognized during the annual CAGP-ACPDP™ Conference.
The Canadian Association of Gift Planners would like to recognize Robert Bédard and Christopher JK Richardson for their continuing dedication to the field of planned giving and for their tireless contributions to the CAGP-ACPDP™. Thank you and congratulations!
