
ADVANCED Gift Planning Course - Faculty
Malcolm heads charitable gift planning at the Scotia Private Client Group, where he advises private clients on philanthropy and private foundations.
He is one of Canada’s best-known charitable gift planners, with 13 years of experience in the charitable sector working for University of Toronto, Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation, and The Hospital for Sick Children Foundation. He was Chair of Government Relations for the Canadian Association of Gift Planners (CAGP٠ACPDP™) from 2002 to 2006. Through CAGP٠ACPDP™, he has contributed to new rules for gifts of public securities, donation tax shelters, and charitable remainder trusts.
He is a well-known speaker and writer on gift planning, the Course Director for CAGP
Susan works with clients from the voluntary sector. In this role, she acts as general counsel and tax specialist. She is regularly called upon to advise on compliance and taxation matters under the
Income Tax Act (Canada), as well as relevant provincial tax regulations. She assists clients with charitable registration matters and with regulations relating to receipting of charitable foundations and expenditures of charitable funds. She frequently represents charities which are faced with tax audits. Susan speaks and writes frequently on charities issues. She also works with the Charities Directorate and the Department of Finance on policy matters.
